Fri Jun 29 2012Golf Industry Central turns 4 years old!
Thank you very much for your continued support, it’s hard to believe we’ve reached this milestone. A special mention goes to the ongoing sponsors, contributors and support team behind the scenes, which without their help this magazine and website couldnt continue to exist.
I have met and worked with so many great people over the past 4 years because of this little “idea” I got in my head which eventuated into Golf Industry Central. There is still a way to go before achieving this vision that is implanted in my head, but half the fun is the actual journey.
I’m very passionate about the golf industry and golf in general, though I don’t play much as of late. I fall into that demographic that has dropped away from the game due to a focus on business commitments and also being active with my young family. The industry worldwide is experiencing a major demographic swing and we all need to adjust and swing along with it. Products and services need to adapt and the definition of “member” has to take on a new meaning.
Golf Industry Central hopefully can help you in some small way with providing a unique perspective in growing your business.
The wonderful golfing nation of New Zealand is our focus in this month’s issue. As with most golfing nations New Zealand is also experiencing its golf challenges. NZ Golf reported a 5.1% drop in membership this past year with the outlook for the future also not strong if this trend continues. So what do we do about it?
I’ve been honoured to be asked again to present at the upcoming biannual Golf Managers Association New Zealand Conference being held in Christchurch, August 26-28 2012. Ill also be staying on to present at two seminars for the local Canterbury Golf District. It’s great that the organisers decided to keep the conference in Christchurch and to support the city in some way. The city has been working through its ongoing challenges of last year’s earthquake and subsequent aftershocks. I look forward to seeing my Kiwi mates soon enough. Drop me a line if you want to catch you while there?
You, the industry, are all invited to attend as delegates or support as a sponsor. What are you waiting for- get involved.
