Golfing great killed in accident

THE region’s golfing and farming community is in mourning after the death of Gisborne and East Coast “legend” Peter Rouse in a quad bike accident on Sunday afternoon.

Mr Rouse, 74, died when his quad bike went over a steep 20-metre cliff at the end of a sheep muster at Mangatarata Station on the Mata Road, just south of Tokomaru Bay, at around 4pm.
