The AGCSA Newsletter announced that a number of long-serving NSW course superintendents were recognised for their years of service to the industry at the NSWGCSA Annual General Meeting held earlier this week. The Toro sponsored AGM was held at North Ryde Golf Club (host superintendent and AGCSA member Ron Duffy) with three life members, 41 members and five guests in attendance, including AGCSA general manager John Neylan and AGCSA membership coordinator Lyndel Conway.
After the AGM, NSWGCSA Superintendent Achievement Awards were presented to those recipients that were present. The achievement awards are a new initiative that came about after suggestions from members and is aimed at recognising long-serving NSW superintendents in NSW. ‘Silver’ awards are for 10 or more years, ‘gold’ for 20 or more years and ‘glass’ is for more than 30 years. Receiving the latter were John Odell (Royal Sydney Golf Club) – 33 years service – and John Simpson (Camden Valley Golf Club) - 37 years service. Simpson’s is an outstanding achievement and he has spent a total of 47 years at the club. The AGCSA congratulates both Johns, who are AGCSA members, on their recognition
