Mon Mar 8 2010Operator appointed for new Kalgoorlie golf course
The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder has appointed Prime Golf as the operator for the Kalgoorlie Golf Course.
Prime Golf will be managing all three components of the course operation, including course and turf maintenance, hospitality at the club house, and the pro shop and driving range. Prime Golf will utilise McMahons Contracting for the course maintenance aspect of the contract.
Council have also awarded the contract for landscaping around the Graham Marsh Design course to McMahons Contracting. This comprises of revegetation of degraded or damaged areas, landscaping around tees and greens, and steps to tees.
Mayor Ron Yuryevich said the appointment of the course operators was another step towards the completion of the course.
“Prime Golf currently operate a course which is in the top twenty courses of golf courses in Australia, and have experience managing premier golf courses, such as Links Kennedy Bay,” he said.
“The qualifications that Prime Golf brings to the management and operation of Kalgoorlie Golf Course will greatly add to player and visitor experience, and help build the reputation of Kalgoorlie Golf Course as a premier golfing destination.
“The planned landscaping works will also greatly enhance this sense of the Kalgoorlie Golf Course being a premier golfing venue. People have expectations of premier courses, and we hope to exceed these expectations with the overall look and feel of the course. We are definitely committed to making this course one of the top ten desert golf courses in the world.
“Appointing an operator is exciting, because it gives both the local golfing fraternity and the residents of Kalgoorlie-Boulder a firm indication that the Kalgoorlie Golf Course is nearing completion.”
