Valley gets new golf destination

JACK Newton believes Stonebridge Golf Club is the final step in turning the Hunter Valley into one of the premier golf destinations in Australia.

The Cessnock course, formerly known as Oaks Golf and Country Club, will host its first 18-holes of competition for members tomorrow after it was closed for two years for a $6million redevelopment.

Newton, a golf legend and Cessnock boy, designed the course, which incorporates 140 residential lots.
