POSTED ON October 8, 2019 @ 5:06 pm

A shire-based club professional who has coached several players to national and international acclaim, a volunteer with over 45 years of duty at his small country based club, an administrator with almost 40 years’ service to golf on the Central Coast, and a passionate advocate for his club’s junior scholarship recipients are the finalists for the Golf NSW Service to Golf Award.

Ian Weily, Barry Bent, Josh Rindfleish and Ian Spielvogel are the finalists for the award which will be presented at the 2019 NSW Golf Industry Awards on October 21 at Curzon Hall, Marsfield.

Ian Weily is in his 45th year of volunteering at this small country club, The Rock. Ian has proudly served as a board member notably, its treasurer for much of this time and had been a significant factor in the club’s viability ever since beginning his tenure on the board in 1975.

Barry Bent is the long-time club professional at Woolooware Golf Club. During his time teaching, Barry has coached players and developed students to reach the Australian and American PGA, Ladies PGA, Australian and NSW representative teams.
Ian Spielvogel has contributed to Wyong Golf Club as a board member since 1983 and as president since 2002. He has always been a stable, driving force within the club, especially throughout his time on the board. As president for the past 17 years, he has provided significant guidance to the general managers and board members.

Josh Rindfleish of the Australian Golf Club has been recognised for his contribution to the club’s scholarship program and the support for women’s and junior golf within the club. He is always happy to dedicate time to the club’s juniors and assist them in reaching their goals.

General Manager of Golf – Golf NSW, Mr Graeme Phillipson, said the finalists were all fine examples of what selfless contribution to the sport is all about.

“Golf is richer for the contributions of many individuals across our great state. These four are examples of the importance of giving to others to help our sport thrive,” Mr Phillipson said.

The winner of the Service to Golf Award will be announced at the NSW Golf Industry Awards night on Monday, October 21, at Curzon Hall, Marsfield.

Tickets to the night are now on sale and cost $140.00 each or $1300 for a table of ten.
