The perfect family circle behind champ Adam Scotts rise
WHEN Adam Scott’s sister, Casie, was moving to Old London Town, he asked Justin Rose to help her settle in. Invite her to a dinner party, mate? Help her meet a few people? Rose did as he was asked, triggering a series of sliding-doors moments that have changed lives, altered careers, created a family and made Scott an uncle in the greatest single year of his life.
Dining at Rose’s residence, Casie met an English guy by the name of Brad Malone, a wannabe professional golfer. They clicked and became an item. Malone played 18 holes with his girlfriend’s brother, a decent player by the name of A. Scott, at the posh Wentworth club in London. One soaring iron shot from Scott convinced Malone that he should quit playing. He could never hit the ball like that. The shape and noise were alien to him. Malone turned his attention to coaching.
