POSTED ON July 4, 2014 @ 10:00 am

Australian golf is going through an exciting phase and there has been no better time to pursue a rewarding career in golf.

A variety of career opportunities exist within Professional golf and the PGA of Australia’s Trainee Program provides the perfect platform to gain varied and valuable training and education, at the same time offering exclusive entry into one of the oldest sporting associations in the world, the PGA.

“Qualification as an Australian PGA Professional opens the door to a lifelong career in a sport with a global footprint,” said Brian Thorburn, Chief Executive Officer of the PGA.

Since its inception, the PGA Trainee Program has been producing PGA Professionals who have gone on to forge successful careers in both Vocational and Tournament areas.

Greg Norman, John Senden, Nick O’Hern, Peter Lonard and Rod Pampling are all former members of the PGA Trainee Program.

Other successful graduates include renowned coaches and Club Professionals, including Charlie Earp, Dale Lynch, Steve Bann and Ian Triggs.

The PGA Trainee Program is open to male and female golfers who have a passion for a career in golf.

The comprehensive three year course covers industry specific subject matter, including coaching, game development, small business and management.

PGA Trainees work alongside fully qualified PGA Professionals, receiving practical work experience and on the job training at approved golf facilities around Australia.

The postgraduate employment rate is well above average, with 90 per cent of graduates gaining golf industry specific employment in their first year as a Full Vocational Member of the PGA.

Graduate outcomes are incredibly diverse, covering various areas of the international golf industry from traditional club-based and coaching roles to positions in club management and game development.

A PGA Trainee receives nationally accredited qualifications, in addition to the highest level of golf coaching accreditation through the Australian Sports Commission.

Trainees are required to compete in a number of professional events throughout the program to ensure the playing standard of the PGA Membership is maintained.

Applications for the 2015 PGA Trainee Program now open until August 29th 2014
