Byron Bay Golf Club Appoints Roche as New CEO

POSTED ON March 26, 2026 @ 11:29 am

BYRON BAY – The Board of the Byron Bay Golf Club has announced the appointment of David Roche as its new Chief Executive Officer, signaling a strategic shift toward enhanced professionalism and long-term growth for the coastal venue.

Roche is scheduled to officially take the helm on May 11, 2026.

A Proven Track Record

Roche is bringing a resume that spans both national and international venues. His career has been defined by high-stakes management, including roles at premier resort destinations and the oversight of high-profile golf championships.

Club President Sam Leo noted that Roche’s expertise extends beyond the green, citing a deep background in governance, business leadership, and complex club operations.

“Throughout the recruitment process, David stood out as an exceptional candidate,” Leo said in a statement to members. “His balanced experience across tourism-driven facilities and community-focused clubs, combined with his strategic mindset and leadership capability, made him a unanimous choice of the selection panel.”

Vision for Sustainability

The appointment comes as the club looks to solidify its position as a premier destination while maintaining its roots as a community hub. The Board expressed a high degree of confidence that Roche’s arrival would provide the “renewed energy” and “direction” required for the club’s next chapter.

Key priorities for the new CEO will include:

  • Enhancing the Member Experience: Elevating day-to-day services and club culture.
  • Long-term Sustainability: Ensuring the club remains financially and operationally robust.
  • Operational Excellence: Implementing high-level professional standards across all departments.

Next Steps for Members

The Board has committed to a transparent transition period. While Roche does not start for several weeks, the club plans to provide opportunities for the local community and club members to meet the new executive in due course.

“The Board looks forward to working closely with David and supporting him as he transitions into the role,” Leo added, inviting the community to join in welcoming David to the Byron Bay Golf Club family.
