POSTED ON February 27, 2021 @ 10:32 am

The NSW Open has received a significant boost, with Golf Challenge becoming the tournament’s naming rights partner for the 2021 Championship.

To be known as the Golf Challenge NSW Open, this year’s tournament will be played at the prestigious Concord Golf Club from March 25th to 28th, 2021.

Golf Challenge is a new way to play competitively. A series of sport-specific challenges, rather than the traditional 18 holes, Golf Challenge the ideal way to enjoy a game in less than an hour!

Anyone can play Golf Challenge. The goal of the game is to make the sport more accessible to a new generation of players.

The Golf Challenge concept is the brainchild of Sydney-based tech entrepreneur Clive Mayhew. It began in his backyard and evolved into a TV series to support young professional golfers during COVID.

Naming rights

The concept’s success inspired Mayhew to produce an app and into partnership with Golf NSW to promote the format and App through naming rights partnership of the Golf Challenge NSW Open.

Graeme Phillipson, General Manager of Golf, Golf NSW, was thrilled to announce Golf Challenge as the naming rights partner for the 2021 Championship.

“Securing Golf Challenge as the naming rights partner of the NSW Open is a wonderful opportunity for us to expose the game to a younger and wider audience, and ensure the Championship remains one of the most important fixtures on the Australian golf calendar,” Mr Phillipson said.

Clive Mayhew, Chairman, Golf Challenge, said the partnership with Golf NSW through the NSW Open was the perfect opportunity to premier the Golf Challenge format and App.

“Golf Challenge is proud to sponsor the NSW Open Championship as our premier launch event. This is such an iconic tournament not only in NSW but across Australia and around the world.

“It’s great to be a part of the Championship’s return to Concord Golf Club and we are looking forward to a wonderful week of Golf,” Mr Mayhew added.

Vital sponsor

Nick Dastey, Tournaments Director ISPS PGA Tour of Australasia, stressed how vital sponsors like Golf Challenge were to the health of professional golf and the sport in general across the country.

“Sponsorship Partners are a huge part of any tournament and vital for sport as we rebound from the COVID challenges of the past 12 months.

“Having Golf Challenge come on to partner the NSW Open is a great outcome for all of us,” Mr Dastey said.

Concord Golf Club President, Ian Crichton, was delighted to see Golf Challenge onboard and echoed Mr Phillipson’s and Mr Dastey’s comments.

“We are delighted to welcome Golf Challenge as the naming rights sponsor of the upcoming NSW Open.

“Golf Challenge App is likely to bring a new generation of golfers to our sport, improve the skills of existing enthusiasts, and optimise course utilisation in times of peak demand.”

The Golf Challenge NSW Open will be played at the Concord Golf Club from March 25th – 28th, 2021.

Golfers can find Golf Challenge at GolfChallenge.app or download the Golf Challenge app at both Apple and Google app stores.
