Mount Lawley and Kalgoorlie Sweep Honours at WA Golf Industry Awards
PERTH – The WA golf community gathered in record numbers at Optus Stadium on Friday night for the ADH Club Car WA Golf Industry Awards, where Mount Lawley Golf Club and Kalgoorlie Golf Course emerged as the evening’s biggest winners.
The gala dinner, one of the largest on record with almost 550 attendees, saw 21 awards presented to the clubs, facilities, and individuals who shaped the industry’s success throughout 2025.
Mount Lawley’s Monumental Year
Mount Lawley GC led the charge, amassing five awards following a landmark year that included the completion of major renovations and the successful hosting of the 2025 WA Open.
The club was named Metropolitan Golf Course of the Year and Best Metro WA Club, Facility or Place to Play. Beyond the turf, the club won the WA Environmental Award for its commitment to sustainability. Individual honors also went to Mount Lawley’s Rod Tatt, named Course Superintendent of the Year, and “unsung hero” Tim McAuliffe, who was crowned Volunteer of the Year.
Regional Success for Kalgoorlie
Kalgoorlie Golf Course also enjoyed a dominant night, collecting four trophies. The facility secured the prestigious Regional Golf Course of the Year and Best Regional WA Club, Facility or Place to Play.
The club’s efforts in accessibility earned them the Get Into Golf Venue of the Year, while Correy Price—who has been instrumental in growing the local game alongside his wife, Jemma—took home the PGA WA Club Professional of the Year Award.
Regional Clubs Shine
The night highlighted the strength of golf in regional Western Australia:
- Albany Golf Club was named MyGolf Venue of the Year after achieving national-best participation figures during MyGolf Girls Month.
- Dunsborough Lakes GC saw General Manager Matthew Criss win PGA WA Management Professional of the Year.
- Karratha Indoor Golf became the inaugural winner of the Most Outstanding WA Club, Facility or Place to Play — Off Course in a highly competitive new category.
- Busselton GC’s Harrison Allardyce was named Course Apprentice of the Year, while the Mitchell & Brown Spalding Park Open was voted Tournament of the Year.
Legends of the Game
The industry paused to honor Gary Thomas, former GolfWA Chief Executive, with the Distinguished Service Award. Thomas, who oversaw the amalgamation of the state’s men’s and women’s bodies, was praised for his decades of leadership.
“Gary’s commitment to GolfWA has been nothing short of extraordinary. His leadership, integrity and unwavering passion have strengthened our game and our community,” said GolfWA Chair, Emma Elliott. “We are deeply grateful for Gary’s years of service. His legacy will continue to guide us well into the future.”
On the professional front, Minjee Lee made history by winning the Outstanding Achievement in Golf Award for the sixth time.
