Gailes Golf Club appoints new General Manager

Gailes Golf Club has announced Mr Frank McCarthy as the club’s new general manager.

Mr McCarthy has been a member of the club since as early as 1985, even though his employment took him to Melbourne for over eleven years. He served on the Gailes Golf Club committee for five years in the 1990’s, serving terms as Vice President and Vice Captain.

According to the club committee, McCarthy’s experience, expertise and the results he has achieved stood out above others candidates during the interview process.

The club said they were “fortunate to have gained a general manager with the first rate credentials” that Mr McCarthy possesses.

A brief summary of his working background is:

·        Group Retail Manager, Golf World Retail Chain, Queensland – April 1986 to August 1993

·        General Manager, Brosnan Golf Australia Pty Ltd, Brisbane – August 1993 to October 2000

·        Managing Director, Callaway Golf South Pacific Pty Ltd – October 2000 to March 2004, Brisbane, and March 2004 to January 2010, Melbourne

·        Executive General Manager Operations, Scholz Industries Pty Ltd, Melbourne – January 2011 to December 2014

·        Director of Backmarker Pty Ltd consulting to Nationwide Research Group Pty Ltd, Melbourne – from January 2015

According to the club, there are some arrangements still to be finalized, including a formal start date and the transitional period from Rob Thomson to Frank McCarthy.
