Bill Yates -Pace of Play Expert, “Measure Success by Quality, not Quantity.”

International slow play expert and “the Guru of Pace of Play” Bill Yates, advises golf managers to focus less on number of rounds played, and more on quality of the playing experience.

According to Bill, when a golf course’s daily goals are measured solely by the quantity of rounds, the emphasis on the actual quality of those rounds are inevitable overlooked.

In this case, your management staff is effectively incentivized to squeeze in as many players possible and overcrowds a course – as opposed to filling up a course – it’s the perfect recipe for bottlenecks, frustrated customers and long, long round times.

The “guru” further asserts that when daily success is measured by revenue, you will be more focused on round time consistency and quality that can be carried out to players throughout the day, and thing will begin to change.

This refocus will result in a number of positive outcomes for your club:

1.     You can now fill previously empty afternoon starting times at premium value

2.     You will reduce need for customary discounting to lure golfers into early afternoon spots

3.     Your course will be full not just in the morning but all day

4.     You’ll keep round times down

5.     Your reputation for quality and value will grow

6.     You’ll generate more revenue!

Following this simple tip will increase not only your player loyalty, but your revenue. Both you and your customers will be smiling a lot more.
