SEEKING – Golf Operations Manager (Full Time) – Golf WA

GolfWA, the State Sporting Organisation for amateur golf, is seeking a highly motivated, multi- skilled and competent person to fill this most important position within our operation.

OVERVIEW

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, the Golf Operations Manager will be responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of all operational matters relating to golfing events conducted under the auspices of Golf WA.

Several staff report directly to the Golf Operations Manager including the Tournament Coordinator, High Performance Coordinator and Game Development Coordinator.

  • Rules of Golf, course rating, amateur status and handicapping including queries from Affiliated Clubs and District Associations on such matters and conducting necessary courses and training in these areas for Affiliated Clubs and District Associations, committees, volunteers and staff.
  • High Performance Operations for both men and women including liaising with Golf Australia, coaching personnel, state squads and teams and individuals.
  • Overseeing tournaments, pennants, other golfing and coaching programmes conducted under the auspices of Golf WA.
  • Preparing and administering budgets for the above programmes.
  • Delivering the agreed goals, objectives and KPI’s of GolfWA’s Strategic Plan with particular reference to golf operation matters.
  • Setting of annual Golf WA fixtures.
  • To assist in the operations of the WA Open.
  • Preparation of relevant materials for meetings of the Golf Management Committee and its sub-committees.

 
In order to be able to deliver the above, ideally you will be able to demonstrate all or most of the following skills and characteristics:-

  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to engage and work with Club Officials and volunteers, PGA Coaches, golfers ranging in skill from club golfers to our elite amateurs, GolfWA Committees and staff and other stakeholders of GolfWA
  • Outstanding event management and delivery skills and experience

 
Additionally, the Golf Operations Manager is the key staff member that liaises with the Golf Management Committee and its sub-committees of High Performance, Tournaments, Game Development and Technical.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • A thorough knowledge of the Rules of Golf. Ideally you will be qualified, as a minimum, as a Club Level referee
  • A thorough knowledge of the Australian Handicapping System, Course Rating System and Golf Link
