The Australian Golf Course Superintendents Association (AGCSA) is the national body for golf course superintendents and is recognised as such by Golf Australia and all other state and national golf sanctioning organisations. The AGCSA is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee and was formed in 1981 to further the profession of Golf Course Management in Australia and the Pacific Rim. Since that time the association has grown steadily in size and now has around 1000 members from all states of Australia, New Zealand and around the world.

The AGCSA’s primary role is to represent and advance the interests of its members. To meet these aims the AGCSA conducts Australia’s largest turf conference and trade show, produces a bi-monthly journal, provides education and training for its members and has a technical division that provides industry-leading independent analytical and consultancy services.

The AGCSA is seeking a dynamic individual to take on the key management role of Chief Executive Officer. This is a hands-on position and the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing the financial, legal, marketing, industrial relations, membership services and day to day operations of the AGCSA under policy directions set by the Board of Directors.
  • Overseeing a small and committed staff.
  • Representing the AGCSA in the media, to government agencies, the sporting and turfgrass industries and other groups as directed by the Board.
  • Managing the human and physical resources of the association in an efficient, cost effective manner.
  • Investigating and reporting on new business opportunities for the association and to present these to the Board of Directors.
  • Undertaking strategic planning to ensure the long-term viability and growth of the association.

Candidates will ideally have a background in the golf industry or running a not for profit association. You will have the ability to consult and liaise effectively with a wide range of stakeholders. Excellent written and oral communication skills, highly developed interpersonal skills and strategic thinking are also required.

The position is based at the AGCSA office in Clayton, Melbourne, Victoria.
