Bukit Pandawa Golf & Country Club to open on Bali
By Mathilda Andersson
On October 8 the doors will officially open to the latest addition of Bali’s growing collection of world-class golf courses – Bukit Pandawa Golf & Country Club.
The 18-hole championship-standard, Par 3 golf course is the focus of developer Bali Ragawisata Group’s ambitious construction that will eventually include a cluster of luxurious hotels, including a Waldorf Astoria, Mandarin Oriental, Raffles and Swissotel.
Only a 45-minute drive away from Denpasar International Airport, the anticipated golf venue is located on the most southern coastline of Bali on a limestone cliff-top overlooking the renowned surf breaks of Bukit Peninsula.
The course is considered one of its kind on Bali with ten holes featuring the Indian Ocean and architectural ruins as a backdrop, and a clubhouse inspired by the iconic towers and many temples the Indonesian island is well-known for.
Owing to the local architect group Antony Liu + Ferry Ridwan Architects and their clever use of natural material such as stone, wood and water, the clubhouse blends harmoniously into its beautiful surrounds.
The exclusive venue also features a swimming pool, a fully stocked pro shop and restaurant/café with an upstairs perch which offers spectacular views of the ocean and the course.
Other amnesties on the property includes a practice chipping and putting green, smaller snack shacks on holes and spacious men’s and women’s locker rooms conveniently located adjacent to the clubhouse.
The JMP Golf-designed Par 54 course is routed through dramatic rock outcroppings across a limestone cliff-top overlooking spectacular white-sand beaches. And though commonly referred to as a time saver –a typical round is managed in around 90 minutes – it does not lack in challenge or distraction, with a plethora of bunkers and strategically placed waterfalls sprinkled into this very latest Bob Moore creation.
