SEEKING: Golf Professional – Windsor Country Golf Club

Windsor Country Golf Club, established in 1963, is located in the beautiful Hawkesbury precinct, a short 20 minute drive from the Hills District , with rapid growth occurring in the north west corridor of Sydney (up to 80% population growth predicted by 2036 *)

The Club has a progressive Board and management / staff and is financially sound, with innovative business plans and future facility and course improvements on the horizon. The current Golf Professional runs a successful service and is moving in another career direction, leaving a solid base in place for the next chapter of professional services for the right operator.

The Club is seeking a suitable person / team to take over the Professional shop operations under a contract arrangement.

The course is a challenging 128 GA slope rated 18-hole golf course, 5886m with a par of 71. The Club currently has 2 practice fairways with teeing grounds (irons / 175m adjacent to the 1st hole, woods adjacent to 3rd / 8th hole), 1 practice putting green, 1 practice chipping green (with a practice bunker), along with practice nets for the professional to provide lessons.

The Pro Shop was recently renovated and expanded to have considerable retail floor space, and has a purpose built and private indoor “Tech” centre, opening up options to teach and fit in all weather and times.

The Club wishes to appoint a qualified, enthusiastic, outgoing golf professional (and team / staff) who is looking to work with the Club by helping to improve revenue growth and customer (membership or public) satisfaction.

The professional will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining the Pro Shop at a high standard of presentation, cleanliness and tidiness
  • Help to grow and expand not only the Pro Shop but whole of Club business, working closely with the Board and Management
  • Set up time sheets and start all the competition fields (via MiClub software solutions)
  • Computer and data entry of competition results and handicap administration (when required)
  • Provide coaching tuition and service for members and guests, young and old, male and female, and develop programs to introduce new golfers to membership
  • Take the lead with junior golf and drive this area of the business by conducting regular junior clinics and programs
  • Monitor all dress standards
  • Provide a club fitting, cleaning and repair service
  • Responsible for monitoring non-member/visitors accessing and using the course or practise facilities
  • Monitor pace of play
  • Clean and maintain all motorised golf carts as well as ensuring all the carts are regularly used for battery usage purposes
  • Collect all competition fees, green fees, and reconcile the daily accounts through the Pro Shop.
  • Help to increase revenue by attracting new golf days and assist in the organisation of trade /corporate days
  • Manage all social club bookings
  • Provide WCGC members / public with necessary advertisements and documentation at the request of management, including development of data lists for future marketing
  • Assist the club by receiving membership and guests telephone enquiries and golf bookings
  • Attend meetings with management and directors (when required)

Candidates for the position must be an accredited PGA member and must be able to demonstrate:

  • Sound management experience and business acumen, with experience in golf operations
  • Excellent personal presentation, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and account to club management for monies on behalf of the Club
  • Willingness to develop programs, build relationships with current members and encourage new members / public to the Club
  • Willingness to play golf with members on a regular basis

 

 

 

 

Financial Facts

  • Fleet of club owned 30 electric motorised golf carts (approx. $190K gross revenue)
  • 700 + member competition rounds per week
  • Approx. $290k per year (green fees gross)
  • 900 golfing members as well 200 social members
  • Social golf (Sunday) bookings up to 3 years in advance secured
  • Ball competition only redeemable in Pro-Shop (excluding trophy vouchers)

Remuneration

The remuneration package will take into consideration the PGA recommended rates and will involve a retainer package as well as other incentive based remuneration KPI’S, such as the introduction of new trade days, membership spotters fee etc. The supply of the indoor tech centre area (fitted out) will be negotiated. The Club will be open to negotiate on the structure of remuneration package and arrangement. The Club will also be open to negotiate on any other similar ideas that may be brought forward.
