Keperra Appoints New Head Teaching Professional
The Keperra Country Golf Club has announced the appointment of Mr Chris McCourt as the new Head Teaching Professional. McCourt was chosen following an extensive recruitment process which was undertaken and included interviews with many highly qualified PGA Professionals from around the country and overseas.
“We are delighted to welcome Chris back to Keperra and know he will create a strong golf teaching and learning environment“, said General Manager Gavin Lawrence. “Finding the right head teaching professional to suit the culture and needs of a club is always a challenging task. We consider Chris an excellent choice. He has had a long standing relationship with the club having completed his traineeship at Keperra under the tutelage of Mr Ian Triggs.”
McCourt has been a member of the Australian PGA for over 25 years and has both an extensive playing and coaching record. Over the past two decades he has worked closely with the highly regarded Ian Triggs and has been directly responsible for coaching programs ranging from beginners to elite tour players. Triggs’ stable of players has and includes the likes of tour players John Senden and Karrie Webb. “Chris will be a great addition to the team at Keperra and I am sure the next generation of golfers will flourish under his guidance” said Triggs. In fact both McCourt and Senden completed their PGA Traineeships under Triggs at Keperra at the same time. Senden was thrilled to hear the news of McCourt’s appointment, “It is so good to hear Chris is back in the Golf Industry. He has amazing knowledge of the game and will definitely be a popular figure at the club”.
In recent years McCourt has been absent from the game due to a battle with Brain Cancer. Courageously he has won this battle and he is very much looking forward to returning to an industry that he loves. “This is an exciting opportunity and one that I wasn’t sure would ever present again. Keperra is an amazing club and I look forward to building upon the excellent coaching programs that they have in place”.
