Australian weekly Podcast Insider The Ropes featured a special guest interview last week with Gavin Kirkman, new CEO of the PGA of Australia.

The Podcast, backed by  Golf Australia, Radio RSN and the state golf associations, with hosts Andy Maher and Mark Hayes covers all areas of the game across Australia and around the world plus dedicated state specific segments.

In a recent interview, Kirkman, who took on the role as CEO about three months ago, discussed his new job along with the state of the game at a professional level and what needs to be done to get golf back in the mainstream.

“It has been good, I’ve been with the PGA for around 12 years, having six years as a state manager, and six years down here in Melbourne at the National Office,” he said about his new role.

“The new exciting area is the ISPS Handa PGA tour of Australasia, and that’s where we want to work on that area as well. It’s in good shape but it can be better and we want to create more playing pathways in the coming years.”
