Toro Lends Support to PGA of GB&I’s International Conference

POSTED ON November 19, 2019 @ 5:22 pm

Toro, one of the world’s leading brands of turf and landscape maintenance equipment, has become a supporting sponsor of this week’s PGA of Great Britain and Ireland (GB&I) International Conference.

The innovative turf machinery and irrigation product manufacturer further strengthened its already strong foundations with golf facilities across the world by becoming a PGA Partner this year.

Toro first entered the golf equipment business 100 years ago with a mower designed to maintain the fairways at The Minikahda Club in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Today, the US-based company has cemented itself as one of the world’s leading brands of turf and landscape maintenance equipment.

Toro now has professional distributors, dealers and retailers in more than 125 countries, and offers a wide range of products for the golf course market. The company’s products are currently being used around the world at notable facilities such as Carnoustie Golf Links, St Andrews Links, Torrey Pines Golf Course and Pinehurst Resort.

As part of the agreement, Toro will present to delegates at Laguna Phuket on key issues within golf course agronomy today and the importance of the relationship between the golf operations team and the course management team in the success of any golf club.

“We are delighted to welcome PGA Partners Toro on board as a Supporting Partner for the 2019 PGA Conference in Thailand,” said Matthew Davies, Regional Manager (International) for the PGA, like Toro an Executive Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.

He added: “Toro and The PGA have a long-standing relationship in Europe and this further strengthens this relationship across the world.

Gareth Knight

“We are excited to hear from Gareth Knight, Southeast Asia and Indian Sub-continent Regional Manager for Toro, who has joined our exciting line up of speakers.

“Gareth’s presentation will focus on some of the key current challenges faced within agronomy, such as water management and chemical application, and cover some of the new developments happening within the sector, such as hybrid and electric technologies and autonomous machinery.

“We have received feedback from the previous editions of the Conference that our Members would like to see some educational content around the topic of agronomy as many who attend the Conference are in positions where they are in daily contact with the superintendent at their facility.

“We are delighted to work with Toro as the leader in their field to help deliver this.”

As well as delivering an excellent educational programme, the third staging of the PGA Conference at Laguna Phuket, the PGA’s first branded facility in Thailand, provides outstanding networking opportunities for PGA Members.

For the first time, the Asian Golf Industry Federation is a Supporting Partner at the conference.
