Penrith Golfer Completes New Guinness World Record for Charitable Cause

POSTED ON November 24, 2025 @ 2:11 pm

Penrith golfer Matt Newton has successfully broken the Guinness World Record for the most holes of golf played in 24 hours, completing an astonishing 810 holes at X-Golf Penrith over the weekend.

Matt surpassed the previous official record of 756 holes (equivalent to 42 complete 18-hole courses) and retired his clubs triumphantly after just 22 hours of continuous swinging.

The marathon effort was held as part of X-Golf Australia’s annual Starlight Swing charity month, a nationwide campaign dedicated to granting life-changing wishes for seriously ill children through the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

“When you see what Starlight does—the happiness they bring to kids doing it tough—it hits you,” Matt commented. “This is a cause very close to our hearts, so every swing and every blister was worth it!”

Matt’s attempt, held at X-Golf Penrith (55-61 York Road), was kept energized by the lively support of the western Sydney community. X-Golf’s Peter Nolan, who knows firsthand the value of such support following his own chemotherapy for Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2014, praised the effort.

“It’s truly rewarding to see our team’s dedication to making an impact like this. Matt’s feat goes right to the heart of what X-Golf stands for—community, courage and making a change,” Nolan stated.

The X-Golf community has so far raised over $3,000 towards the $37,500 goal, and Matt is calling on local businesses and the community to continue supporting the Starlight Swing fundraiser following his record-breaking achievement.

  • Previous Record: 756 holes.
