Construction of the Maleny Golf Club’s new $1.7 million clubhouse has reached a significant early milestone, with the completion of bulk earthworks on time and within budget.

The new facility is expected to be operational by mid-2026, finally providing a permanent home to complement the club’s award-winning 18-hole course in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. Since opening its first nine holes in 2015, the club has famously operated from temporary facilities created from two shipping containers.

Future-Proofing the Footprint

Club President Doug Evans highlighted that a surge in member support has allowed the project to expand in real-time. Donations from the membership enabled the club to fund an expansion of the building’s original footprint from 422 to 483 square metres.

“Significantly, member donations have enabled the club to fund expansion… by adding an extra module now, rather than later as previously planned,” Mr. Evans said. “The extra $200,000 being invested will future-proof the clubhouse for at least the next 10-to-15 years and avoid inevitable disruption to extend the building later at far greater cost.”

Precision Planning

Mr. Evans credited the smooth progress to the dedication of the club’s skilled on-site management team.

“This is a significant undertaking, and our team has done a great job completing this crucial stage of works efficiently and with minimal disruption to members, patron,s and day-to-day golf operations,” he noted.

Rapid On-Site Assembly

The project utilizes a modular design, allowing for efficient off-site prefabrication and a rapid “erection day” on the course.

  • Prefabrication: Modules are built off-site to ensure high quality and minimal environmental impact on the course.
  • The Crane Lift: Once footings are complete, seven modules will be lifted into place by crane in a single day.
  • Final Timeline: The building is expected to become operational within 10-to-12 weeks following the internal fit-out.

The project represents the next chapter in Maleny Golf Club’s long-term vision, evolving from its “minimalist” community-built roots into a premier regional destination.
