Fiji International soars to new heights thanks to Fiji Airways

POSTED ON January 24, 2018 @ 9:49 am

Fiji Airways has signed on as the Presenting Partner of the Fiji International, after three successful years as a Platinum partner of the event.

The tournament will be known as the Fiji International presented by Fiji Airways.

Fiji Airways Managing Director and CEO Mr. Andre Viljoen commented, “We’re pleased to partner with the Fiji International for the fourth year.

“Sports sponsorship forms a part of our current commercial strategy for brand recognition and we’re happy to align ourselves with valuable names that reach across a diverse range of markets.

“As we continue to grow our airline network, partnerships such as this help us in reaching new audiences, audiences who will potentially be guests onboard us in the future.”

The sponsorship of the Fiji International presented by Fiji Airways adds to Fiji Airways’ significant support of international sporting excellence, which includes comprehensive rugby sponsorship incorporating naming and branding rights for the Fiji Airways Flying Fijians, Fiji Airways National 7s Team, Fiji Airways Fijiana 15s Team, Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s Team, Fiji Airways Drua, and Fiji Link Referees.

With the support from Fiji Airways, the PGA of Australia and Sports & Entertainment Limited (SEL) will be able to continue the spectacular growth in the event, which has seen it become one of the preeminent tournaments in the Asian Pacific region.

“The Fiji International presented by Fiji Airways continues to strengthen with the support and investment into the tournament through valued partners such as Fiji Airways,” said Gavin Kirkman, CEO of the PGA of Australia which owns the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia.

“Fiji Airways have shown their belief and commitment to the tournament from its early stagings, when they shared our vision to use a premier international golf tournament to showcase the beauty of Fiji to the world.

“With the backing from Fiji Airways and our other respected event partners, the Fiji International presented by Fiji Airways produces over 20 hours of global broadcast vision which advertises Fiji to a global audience.”

The Fiji International presented by Fiji Airways will return to the Pacific for its fifth staging when it is held from 2-5 August 2018 at Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course.

The event will be tri-sanctioned by the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia, the European Tour and the Asian Tour.

As part of the tri-sanctioning agreement, the Fiji International will not compete with any other tournaments on those tours.

“Fiji Airways step up to the Presenting Partnership of the Fiji International is a genuine game changer. The tournament’s year round global exposure and relevance will showcase the airline and remind the consumer that there is only one way to travel to Fiji ; we are excited to grow this partnership with the Fiji Airways team well into the future,” said Matt Porm, Director of Commercial at Sports & Entertainment Limited (SEL).

With a key strategic focus to leverage the tournament to build awareness and grow golf tourism from key Fiji Airways flight route destinations, the tri-sanctioning and date scheduling provides the best opportunity to attract key Asian players and media to attend the event.
