Sky Secures Three-Year Extension for New Zealand Open
Sky has solidified its position as the home of New Zealand golf, confirming a new three-year broadcast and production agreement with the New Zealand Open. The deal ensures that the prestigious tournament, hosted at the picturesque Millbrook Resort, will reach a wider audience than ever before.
Under the new agreement, Sky remains the exclusive domestic broadcaster. However, in a significant win for sports fans, the partnership will include full free-to-air coverage on the Sky Open platform for the first time, lowering the barrier for Kiwis to watch the national open.
Strategic Partnerships and Production
To bring the action to life, Sky is partnering with NEP, leveraging their production expertise to deliver extensive coverage from the Queenstown greens. This collaboration aims to showcase not just the world-class competition, but also the breathtaking Central Otago scenery that has made the event a global favorite.
Adam Crothers, Sky’s Head of Content Partnerships, highlighted the event’s growing popularity:
“The New Zealand Open is a highlight on our sporting calendar – combining world-class golf, breathtaking scenery, and growing audience engagement. We’re thrilled to continue bringing this iconic event to New Zealanders across Sky’s platforms.”
A Boost for New Zealand Golf
New Zealand Open Chairman John Hart expressed his delight at the renewed commitment, noting that the partnership reinforces the tournament’s status as a premier event on the international stage.
“Sky’s commitment ensures that fans across the country can cheer on their favourite Kiwi and international players,” Hart said. “This partnership ensures the tournament’s visibility will continue to grow.”
