POSTED ON March 18, 2026 @ 3:37 pm

About

Burleigh Golf Club is seeking an experienced and motivated Golf Course Superintendent to lead the management, presentation and ongoing development of one of the Gold Coast’s premier member-focused golf courses.

Located at the southern end of the Gold Coast, Burleigh Golf Club has built a strong reputation as a high-quality members’ club. The club has strong profitability, an in-demand membership and waiting list, and financial investments that help secure the long term improvement of the golf course and its facilities.

The condition and presentation of the golf course are the Club’s number one strategic priority. The Board and Management are committed to ongoing investment in course quality, infrastructure and equipment, creating a stable and well-supported environment for the successful candidate.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Superintendent will play a key leadership role within the Club’s management team and will be responsible for the overall maintenance, conditioning and development of the golf course and surrounding grounds.

The role leads a dedicated team of turf professionals and works closely with Club leadership to deliver high quality playing surfaces and long term course improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing all aspects of golf course maintenance and presentation
  • Leading and developing a professional and accountable course maintenance team
  • Managing the department’s operational budget and resources
  • Implementing agronomic programs to maintain high quality playing surfaces year round
  • Contributing to planning and delivery of course improvement projects
  • Ensuring workplace health, safety and environmental best practice
  • Managing irrigation systems, machinery and course infrastructure
  • Communicating effectively with management, staff and members regarding course conditions and projects

About the Course & Facilities

Burleigh Golf Club has made significant investments in its golf course and maintenance operations over the past five to six years, including:

  • Installation of a new Rain Bird irrigation system (circa 2020)
  • Construction of modern greenkeeping facilities (circa 2020)
  • Ongoing course improvement initiatives planned over the coming years

The maintenance department operates with an annual budget of approximately $1.5 million (excluding depreciation) and is supported by a team of 12 staff, including the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent.

The Club maintains a detailed equipment replacement program extending more than five years into the future, ensuring the maintenance team is supported with modern, reliable machinery.

In addition, the Club has modelled capital expenditure requirements for the golf course and facilities more than a decade ahead and has ensured funding is in place to support these long term improvements. This reflects the Club’s commitment to being a progressive and forward-looking organisation.

The course features warm season turf playing surfaces suited to South East Queensland conditions

  • Greens – Tiff Green Bermudagrass (328)
  • Surrounds – Tiff Tuff
  • Fairways – Wintergreen / CT2

Why Burleigh Golf Club

  • A clear strategic commitment that course condition is the Club’s highest priority
  • A stable and profitable club environment with strong financial performance
  • Long-term capital planning supporting ongoing course investment
  • A structured equipment replacement program
  • A vibrant and welcoming membership that values the golf course and supports the work of the course maintenance team
  • A supportive Board and leadership team committed to continuous improvement
  • A governance structure where the Board sets the strategic direction while the Superintendent is trusted to lead agronomic decisions and day-to-day course management
  • A culture that welcomes ideas from experienced turf professionals to help shape the future development of the golf course

About You

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Certificate III, IV or Diploma in Sports Turf Management or equivalent
  • Proven experience in golf course maintenance, ideally in a Superintendent or senior leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of warm-season turf management in South East Queensland conditions
