Australia’s GolfTrak Joins US Platform ChipIn to Drive Global Expansion

POSTED ON August 11, 2026 @ 12:55 pm

MELBOURNE, Australia – Australian golf technology developer GolfTrak has merged with US-based platform ChipIn, bringing together a smartphone-based launch monitor provider and an American platform centered on charity tournaments and player engagement.

Financial terms and ownership structures were not disclosed. However, the cross-border deal merges GolfTrak’s performance tracking, ball-flight analysis, and simulator connectivity with ChipIn’s fundraising and competition network.

EM Advisory acted as the financial adviser to GolfTrak throughout the transaction.

Strategic Alignment and Expansion

The deal positions the combined entity at the intersection of consumer sports technology and community-driven events. Rather than expanding organically into the US market from scratch, GolfTrak’s merger provides immediate access to established American distribution channels and customer bases.

  • GolfTrak: Founded by Igor Vainshtein, the company uses smartphone video and computer vision technology to deliver precision performance metrics and simulator integrations.
  • ChipIn: Operates primarily in the US market, providing tools for golf clubs, players, and charitable organizations to run tournaments and fundraising drives.

A 15-Year Advisory Partnership

The merger marks the fourth transaction Vainshtein has completed alongside EM Advisory over a 15-year period. Rather than a single exit, the deal highlights a long-term model of founder-led corporate development spanning capital raises, acquisitions, and international mergers.

“One of the strongest endorsements any adviser can receive is when a founder chooses to work with you again,” said Natasha Mandie, Managing Director at EM Advisory. “Founders build businesses, raise capital, acquire, merge and eventually exit, often over many years. Being invited back to advise at another critical stage speaks to the trust that develops through consistently delivering sound commercial advice.”

Vainshtein emphasized the role of long-term advisory trust in navigating complex cross-border structures.

“I have been working with Natasha and the EM team for over 15 years,” Vainshtein said. “The trust and working relationship we share is at the core of what we have been able to achieve together. When you work with EM, you know they will give you the advice you need and be relentless in delivering an outcome.”

Broader Market Context

The transaction illustrates a growing trend among Australian technology firms seeking offshore scale to overcome local market size constraints. Cross-border mergers offer a faster route to international market penetration, though they require navigating complex valuations, tax structures, and post-merger integration.

Mandie noted that international deal activity involving Australian mid-market and tech companies continues to accelerate:

“We’re seeing more Australian businesses looking beyond domestic markets to accelerate growth through strategic international partnerships. Cross-border transactions present enormous opportunities, but they also introduce additional complexity across valuation, structuring, negotiations and execution.”
