Public golf courses are often seen as the exclusive domain of those in polo shirts and spikes, but this Easter, thousands of local families proved they are truly “spaces for everyone.”

GreenSpace Management has announced a record-breaking turnout for its annual free Easter Egg Hunts, held at Regency Park Community Golf Course in South Australia and Royal Park Public Golf Course in Victoria.

The events, which have become a staple for these community golfing hubs at these sites, saw more than 1,700 children scouring the fairways and greens for hidden treasures.

By the Numbers: A Community Success

The scale of this year’s activation highlights the growing popularity of “non-traditional” use of golf facilities:

  • 14,000+ Easter eggs hidden and successfully found.
  • 1,700+ happy participants.
  • 20+ local businesses supported through vendor partnerships and sponsorships.
  • 2 major City Council partners (City of Port Adelaide Enfield and City of Melbourne).

“Our public golf courses are part of our communities; they are for everyone, even if you don’t play golf,” said Peter Vlahandreas, Managing Director of GreenSpace Management, which has transitioned its golf courses from standard sporting venues into inclusive community hubs.

Beyond the Fairway

The events featured more than just chocolate. Families at Regency Park enjoyed a festive atmosphere that included petting zoos, jumping castles, and appearances by the Easter Bunny & the SHANX Mascot, Rox the Fox, while Royal Park saw a massive influx of Melbourne families taking advantage of the open green space in the heart of Parkville.

The success of these hunts underscores the “GreenSpace & SHANX” philosophy: creating accessible, high-quality golf experiences that serve as a gateway to the sport. By removing the barrier of entry and offering free, family-oriented programming, GreenSpace Management is successfully redefining what a “day at the golf course” looks like for the next generation.

GreenSpace extended its thanks to the dozens of volunteers and local business partners who helped coordinate the logistics of managing 14,000+ chocolate eggs across two states. With this year being “the best yet,” plans are likely already in motion to make next year’s hunt(s) even larger.
