Mike’s Space Winter 2016
The 2016 halfway mark and I’m still feeling the buzz!
First off, our thoughts go out to all the clubs that have been hammered by the recent deluge up and down the Eastern seaboard (some images in the e-mag).
We all appreciate we need the rain, but why does it always come in such a heavy burst and on a weekend, which heavily impacts many of the course’s operational performance?
Hopefully everyone is safe and there’s not too much damage that can’t easily be fixed.
Where did the first half of 2016 go!
I had the honour of hosting Gregg Patterson and Norm Spitzig in May on a four city, five day roadshow to Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland. It was a great learning experience for me personally to be able to hang out with these great club leaders and thought provokers throughout our travelling. We appreciate all the support that was given to them to come all this way to preach their club gospel. It has reinforced my passion for this industry and setting Golf Industry Central up to help our clients out even more in the second half of 2016 and beyond.
In this e-mag issue we also cover some new course developments in Australia and New Zealand, as well as give you the recent updates of two great events coming up later this year, Golf Business Forum (Melbourne) and NZ GMA Conference (Wellington).
Also, last month I travelled to New Caledonia to test out the new Cynthia Dye designed layout at Sheraton New Caledonia Deva. What a great test of a track that is only 18mths old! It’s worth the trek up from Noumea if you happen to be over there sometime.
Finally, golf’s return to the Olympics is upon us soon- no matter what your feelings are about the format or amateur vs pro playing- any exposure is good exposure and should have some impact on growing the game throughout the world.
We hope that the rest of 2016 is shaping up well for you, and as always, please feel free to drop me a line at mike@golfindustrycentral.com.au or 0415 682 259 if you ever need any assistance on what you may be undertaking at your facility or business.
