Mike’s Space Spring 2016

POSTED ON September 21, 2016 @ 7:57 pm

Welcome to our Spring 2016 edition of Golf Industry Central e-magazine. This will be our 28th issue with the first issue being published in December 2009. I can’t believe it’s been that long! Thanks for all your support.

As we head into the end of year season, we look back on the past few months and the various events and news that have occurred.

Is the golf industry heading to retirement??

Retirement homes on golf courses that is. In what is looking to become a new trend with golf clubs pulling some funds out of what is normally a fairly locked asset- the actual golf course. Several golf clubs are starting to cash in at a much needed time and partnering in most cases with a retirement living facility built on the course club land.

It looks like it could be a match made in heaven as who would not want to spend their last years looking out onto a beautiful golf course and enjoying what the game and natural environment brings.

We cover this new “trend” as well as updates on the recent Golf Business Forum held in Melbourne and the Golf Managers Association New Zealand biennial conference in Wellington, which I was fortunate enough to also be presenting at.

I was also lucky to spend ten days with our business partner and “Pace of Play Guru” Bill Yates – Pace Manager Systems, from the US as he toured around the country working with clubs as well as presenting at the Golf Business Forum.

He shared some great information that most in Australia would not have heard of before.

Enjoy all these stories as well as a course development update and industry news.

Have a great rest of year and please contact me if you need any assistance at your club.

GIC E-Magazine Out now!

In this 2016 Spring issue we report on the latest golf club trend of selling off course land and partnering up with retirement facilities to secure financial stability.

We also give you all the deets from the two major events that took place in July and August – The inaugural Golf business forum in Melbourne and the Golf Managers Association New Zealand biennial conference in Wellington, which GIC’s Mike Orloff was fortunate enough to be presenting at.

We hope you enjoy the read…
