Work is set to commence this month on the $1.12 million Stage 1 of the Hurstville Golf Course upgrade works.

Following consultation with golf course users, Georges River Council has engaged a golf architect to design future course improvement works.

Two stages of course improvements works have been designed which include the construction of six green complexes, 13 tee complexes and two fairways.

Stage 1 of the works is set to commence this month and is focused on increasing ‘playability’ and amenity of the course through the construction of central sections of the course, including the construction of a practice putting green.

Stage 1

The works will include construction of the Ist, 9th and 18th green complexes, a practice putting green, 6th fairway and 5th ladies tee pad, and an 8th ladies tee pad.

Stage 1 works are expected to be completed by May 2021, weather and conditions permitting.

A shortened course in sections has been developed in conjunction with relevant stakeholders to ensure continued play of the course during the construction period.

These upgrades are part of a broader program of course improvements which will include future course and clubhouse construction.

Funding for Stage 1 of these works has been provided by the NSW Government’s Stronger Communities Fund and Hurstville Golf Club.

Funding was allocated within the 2020/21 council budget of $500,000 NSW government Stronger Communities Fund and $400,000 from the Hurstville Golf Club.

Following the adoption of the 2020/21 budget the Hurstville Golf Club has pledged an additional $220,000 towards the project bringing its total contribution to $620,000.
