New Leadership Ahead for Corowa Golf Club as General Manager Steps Down

POSTED ON August 12, 2026 @ 9:09 am

Corowa Golf Club general manager Ashley Boyd has been working with administrators to turn things around at the embattled club, and says it’s now time for the new board to appoint his replacement.

COROWA — Following a turbulent period that saw the Corowa Golf Club enter voluntary administration, General Manager Ashley Boyd has announced he is stepping down from his post. The decision comes as a newly elected board, led by President Mark Fraser, prepares to recruit a permanent successor.

Boyd was appointed general manager in January after serving 18 months in a financial management support role with the club. While his initial position was designed as a temporary measure to stabilize operations and prevent financial insolvency, Boyd quickly realized the severity of the situation.

“I was there to stabilize things, to reshape the club in a way that we could avoid going into administration,” Boyd said. “But it was obvious that wasn’t going to happen.”

He noted that by day three of his tenure, entering administration was clear and unavoidable.

The Path to Voluntary Administration

Following community meetings held in February and March to inform the public of potential closures and operational changes, the Corowa Golf Club officially entered voluntary administration in late April.

Since then, Boyd has worked alongside administrator Henry McKenna to reorganize operations, manage costs, and keep the facilities functioning. Under his management, the club maintained its course grounds with volunteer assistance while gradually extending trading hours and reintroducing services.

Reflecting on the process, Boyd acknowledged the toll the restructuring has taken while expressing optimism about the club’s trajectory.

“It hasn’t been a pleasant year,” Boyd said. “It’s been tiresome, and there is still a lot that needs to go right to regrow patronage, but I feel things are heading in the right direction.”

Next Steps for the New Board

With the election of the new board last week, Boyd determined that the foundation was set for a transition in leadership.

“I knew now was the right time for me to step aside,” Boyd said.

Boyd will remain in his position to assist until the handover is complete. Meanwhile, the new board under President Mark Fraser will create a shortlist of candidates and conduct interviews for the next general manager to lead the club forward.
