Brookwater GC finalises course overhaul
Greg Norman Golf Course Design (GNGCD) has announced the relaunch of Brisbane’s Brookwater Golf & Country Club, ranked within the top-50 Australian courses.
The club recently underwent a progressive overhaul including strategic design changes to the greens, fairways and bunkers that promises to improve playability and sustainability.
“We are delighted with what GNGCD has delivered to this already amazing golf course. Brookwater continues to thrill as a championship destination thanks to the incredibly clever design and attention to detail for players.” said Graham Dale, General Manager.
Central to the project’s scope was the resurfacing and restoration of the green complexes in an effort to return them to their original sizes, look, and feel.
The project also included widening of fairways and a thorough vegetation management program has eradicated overgrown foliage around the course and in waterways, opening playing corridors where encroaching limbs had started to compromise the original design intent.
The drainage and irrigation systems were also significantly updated which presents an overall improvement in course conditioning that enhances the playability experience for golfers of all skill levels.
“It’s always great to come back to one of my designs and have the opportunity to modernise it and restore it to its original form, so to be able to return to Brookwater was extremely gratifying,” said Greg Norman.
“When redesigning a course, our focus is always to improve both the environmental and economic sustainability as well as playability, which we accomplished in spades at Brookwater.”
The enhancements were the first made to the course which opened in 2002.
