Bulimba Golf Club swings into action to develop masterplan
AN INNER city golf club has its sights set on a $1.5 million grant to boost its membership, renovate its premises and become a community hub.
The co-directors of Bulimba Golf Club, who have doubled membership since they took over in 2014, said they had big plans for the site including a mini golf course and a two-storey club house.
Danny Underwood and Peter Lewis-Hughes said they were working to develop a masterplan that could be presented to Brisbane City Council as early as December.
Prospective upgrades include a new 18-hole miniature golf course, a refurbished and expanded club house, a pond extension and an improved training area.
Mr Lewis-Hughes said he hoped to secure a $1.5 million Get Playing Grant to bring the vision to life.
South East Brisbane Chamber of Commerce president Ray Strong said the upgrades could have a great knock-on effect for the broader business community, attracting new customers to the area.
