Clubs band together to launch new Scenic Rim Golf initiatives

POSTED ON August 1, 2019 @ 9:50 am

The Scenic Rim Regional Council and five local golf clubs have banded together to promote the Queensland region’s diverse golfing destinations.

The focus lies on the local drive market, targeting Brisbane, NSW and Gold Coast golfers, but with all visitors welcomed.

Not many locals, let alone visitors, would realise that there are five golf courses in the Scenic Rim, each unique by its size, layout and location within the region.

The courses range from Tamborine Mountain Golf Course in the East to Boonah Golf Club in the West, and Canungra Area Golf Club, Beaudesert Golf Club and Kooralbyn Valley Golf Course in between.

To further bolster community awareness, all clubs are teaming up with local businesses to showcase their wares and services. One example is the partnership between Scenic Rim Golf and Pterodactyl Helicopters, offering unique “Golf Crawl” tours via private helicopters.

PGA Tour Player Richard Backwell and ALPG / Japan Tour Player Karis Davidson both spent the day helping film the helicopter tour commercial.

Also on offer are mid-week PLAY & STAY packages with a further discounted golf incentive to PLAY a second club in the area the following day.

To further the marketing efforts, Scenic Rim regional Council have dedicated a new golf section on their website which gives an overview of the five clubs and links to each clubs’ landing page. From there you can access the specific clubs’ offerings and special priced packages.

Further information, news and events can also be found on the all new Scenic Rim Golf Facebook page and Instagram account.

Mike Orloff, Golf Marketing Specialist from Golf Industry Central, has been working with the group over the past year to help bring all the various stakeholders together.

“It’s been great to get to know these clubs and what each has on offer,” said Mike.

“Instead of everyone being seen as competitors, each is helping the other out which is at the heart of this group initiative to be successful.”

Scenic Rim Regional Council has a vested interest to foster and promote healthy lifestyle options, inbound tourism and the STAY & PLAY concept has been designed to compliment their raft of various outdoor activities.

Cr Duncan McInnes, Acting Mayor, Scenic Rim Regional Council said:

“They (Scenic Rim Regional Council) were excited to support these initiatives and with assisting in building brand awareness to the area as a true golfing and tourism region,”

“Spend a few days playing golf as well taking in the other great attractions on offer.”
