Construction Begins on $19.8M Collier Park Golf Redevelopment
One of Perth’s most popular public golfing destinations is officially undergoing a massive transformation. Construction has commenced on a $19.8 million redevelopment of Collier Park Golf in Como, aimed at turning the Hayman Road facility into a premier leisure and entertainment hub.
A formal sod-turning ceremony held last month marked the official start of works for the project, which is a joint venture between the City of South Perth and operator Clublinks. Notably, the City’s portion of the funding is sourced entirely from golf course revenue.
A New Era of Social Golf
The centerpiece of the redevelopment is a 48-bay, double-storey driving range. Moving beyond a traditional practice area, the range will feature:
- Interactive Technology: Each bay is equipped with gaming tech.
- Bay-Side Service: Direct food and beverage ordering to your hitting station.
- Full Access: All bays will be bookable for day or night sessions.
Beyond the Fairway
The project is designed to appeal to more than just golfers, introducing several new amenities to the precinct:
- Padel Courts: Four outdoor courts dedicated to the fast-growing sport, welcoming beginners and social players.
- Destination Dining: A new restaurant featuring indoor/outdoor seating, a grab-and-go kiosk, and a menu designed for “long lunches.”
- Events & Functions: A dedicated space capable of hosting up to 150 guests for weddings, corporate events, and private parties.
- Community Perks: A new all-abilities playground and a refreshed retail space for golf and padel gear.
“This redevelopment will enable Collier Park to become a true community hub, where quality golfing experiences sit alongside dining, leisure and entertainment,” said City of South Perth Mayor Greg Milner.
Timeline and Impact
While the 27-hole course and mini-golf remain fully operational during construction, some temporary changes are in effect. The existing driving range remains open, though the practice chipping and putting greens are currently closed.
Collier Park General Manager Gemma Nicholson highlighted the long-term benefits for the sport:
“For our golfers, it means our facilities will match the incredible quality of our golf course and gives us more pathways to grow the game in future generations. I can’t wait for the buildings to take shape now.”
