With a multi-million dollar construction underway at Parkwood International Golf and Function Complex on the Gold Coast, the club has announced a course upgrade will commence shortly to align with standards of the new facilities.

According to the club’s new general manager of golf operations Ben Cousins, the first stage of the course upgrade will begin within the next week or two, pending weather conditions.

The initial phase will include construction of the new 1st green and the new 2nd tee. The two nines will be reversed back to the original routing, which will have an immediate impact on the congestion around the current 1st tee.

Warm-up nets will also be erected and located adjacent to the 1st tee.

Future stage of development for the golf course will see a new practice putting green complex to complement the chipping green that is currently being used as an extra par 3, to reach completions next year.

Further long-term upgrades estimated to finish in 2018, will entail a new practice facility dedicated to the short game (165 metres) to provide a large undulating practice green with multiple targets, mounding, bunkers and various tee locations with grass tees.

During construction, the golf course will have a temporary hole configuration with a temporary course rating allocated by Golf Queensland to ensure members are still being handicapped correctly.

Once stage one of the Club Parkwood development is complete, the Golf Club members will enjoy the following added benefits:

  • 180 new carparks.
  • Newly located bag drop located near the cart storage area.
  • New Pro Shop to be located underneath the Driving Range building.
  • New X-Golf Simulators, which will include members practice and warm up facility (Members will still enjoy a $5 warm up sessions prior to competition play).
  • New practice putting green located next to the new first tee.
  • Rerouted golf course with newly constructed 1st hole in play.
  • New dedicated short game practice facility (pending Council approval).
