VIDEO: “Dont be that player” slow play campaign
The Links Shell Cove is launching a campaign to raise awareness of the issue of pace of play.
Slow play has always been a hot topic at The Links and golf in general. In a recent members survey it was flagged again as a major concern for the members.
The “Don’t be That Player” campaign is designed to create awareness and discussion surrounding this issue. The club believes that regardless of the amount of policing and penalising of slow play you do, ultimately it won’t help the problem unless players take responsibility for their actions and attitude on the golf course, and understand how they directly relate to the pace of play and overall experience for everyone else that’s on the course and following them.
The video was produced by Logan Sheldrick with the content being input by Links Shell Cove staff and management. They wanted to create a different look to the way players are made aware of and think about slow play and their attitude, and most importantly, their role and responsibility towards the issue. This video is just the first step, with more initiatives to be rolled out in the coming weeks/months.
Since releasing the video on facebook, the club has received interest from GolfNSW who want to use it on their page/site and it is gaining momentum and creating some discussion as well.
