Global Golf Advisors appoint Paul Hinton Director of New Asia-Pacific Office
Global Golf Advisors has appointed Paul Hinton Director of its Asia-Pacific practice and announced the opening of a new office in Sydney to serve the firm’s clients across the Asia-Pacific region.
Previously the General Manager at Royal Sydney Golf Club since 2005, Hinton has more than 25 years of golf, private club and hotel and resort experience.
“This is an exciting step in the firm’s continued expansion, and we are fortunate to have someone of Paul’s stature and local knowledge to lead our team,” said Stephen Johnston, the firm’s founding partner. “The Sydney office underscores GGA’s commitment to the Asia-Pacific region, and will facilitate enhanced support for our clients throughout the region.”
Paul started his career with Southern Pacific Hotels as a Graduate Trainee Manager in Queensland, Australia where he received two years of management training in operations, sales & marketing, cost control & finance, human resources and administration. After spending time in various Food & Beverage and Sales roles, Paul has spent the last 20 years in Senior Management roles in premium Hotels and Golf Clubs including Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland, the Manor House Hotel & Golf Club in England and, most recently, at Royal Sydney Golf Club -Australia’s largest private social and sporting club.
“I am delighted to be working with the team at Global Golf Advisors,” Hinton said about his new role.
“There is a great deal of experience and knowledge that exists within the firm and I look forward to sharing this as we work with Club Managers and Boards, Golf Operators, Local and National Governments, Developers and Investors throughout the Asia Pacific region.”
During his time as General Manager at Royal Sydney, the Club hosted five Australian Opens, a Davis Cup Tie and the Club’s 120th birthday celebration. Paul also oversaw the planning, member approval process, construction and operation of a Fitness Centre and swimming pool complex, plus other significant Clubhouse renovations.
“I feel very fortunate to have worked at a wonderful Club like Royal Sydney,” Hinton said. “I look forward to combining my years of experience as a GM with the knowledge and resources that exist within Global Golf Advisors and sharing this with Clubs and the Golf Industry in the region.”
Furthermore, Paul worked closely with his management team, the Board and over twenty sub-committees to deliver a fifteen year Strategic Plan and was instrumental in the development of Master Plans and the appointment of key consultants and architects.
Paul is a member of Golf Management Australia (GMA); he served on the NSW Board for six years, including three as State President, and in 2016 was awarded a fellowship. Paul currently serves on the Advisory Committee for Golf NSW.
