Golf Ball Recycling and Golf Industry Central Partner to promote circularity within the golf industry

POSTED ON May 7, 2026 @ 9:51 am

Golf Ball Recycling (GBR), a world first full-cycle golf ball recycling company, and Golf Industry Central, the region’s leading B2B golf news, jobs, and event marketing platform, are proud to announce a new partnership.

The partnership aims to promote circularity within the golf industry, by sharing opportunities to be more environmentally responsible, and combining GBR’s circular resource recovery solutions with Golf Industry Central’s expansive reach and marketing expertise.

“We are thrilled to partner with Golf Industry Central, a leading source of golf news and industry activity,” comments John Harrington, founder of Golf Ball Recycling. “GBR was established because we saw a need to reduce golf’s carbon footprint. Recycling end-of-life golf balls is only the start.”

“By working with Mike from Golf Industry Central, our vision to make golf the first circular economy sport is further amplified and fast-tracked to reality.”

“Our platform exists to help promote golf industry stories and the many positive things our industry provides to the community. We want to help raise awareness of golf circularity and the work done through Golf Ball Recycling. This is only the start, says Mike Orloff.

Launched in 2018, GBR has rapidly expanded across Australia and New Zealand, with growing support from golf clubs, driving ranges, retailers, and local councils nationwide. Unwanted, damaged and old golf balls are collected, then given a second life through an extended life cycle or shredded and used in new applications.

The program is designed to help golf courses transition towards a circular economy, design out waste and lower the sport’s carbon footprint.

GBR is a member of the Golf Circularity Group (GCG), a network of like-minded golf, and environmental businesses, supporting clubs, councils and businesses in transitioning towards a circular economy. Through knowledge sharing and impactful solutions, GCG aims to develop a practical circular framework for businesses, while also providing industry access to tools that help everyone make an impact.

By bridging the gap between intention and action, it’s easier than ever for golf businesses to make a difference and play an important role in golf becoming a more environmentally sustainable sport.
