Lydia Ko turns fashion designer with her own golf range

POSTED ON January 13, 2017 @ 10:55 am

Lydia Ko is getting into fashion design for the golf course.

The world No 1 has signed a three-year deal with South Korean apparel company McKayson.

She will be involved in ongoing designs for the McKayson LK Line.

The company has also been confirmed as the major sponsor of the New Zealand Women’s Open that joins the LPGA tour in September.

“It’s only been four years since I became a professional and to be able to have my own apparel line at this time in my career is a tremendous honour and I hope this relationship will last for a long time,” Ko said.

“I don’t tend to wear flashy type of clothing. Een if the design is pretty but the colour is not, then consumers will have second thoughts about purchasing. These are some of the things which I plan to discuss with the design team at McKayson so that my ideas are reflected in the designing of my line and hopefully turn it into something that everyone can relate to.”

Ko also announced this week that she would be wearing shoes from the ECCO Golf range, under another new sponsorship deal.

Ko will debut her new look at the Australian Open which will be her first event of the new year.

The clothing and footwear deals mark further changes for the 19-year-old as she rakes in the millions on and off the course.

She will use new clubs this year, have a new caddy carrying her bag and is now working on getting a new coach.

Ko previously wore Callaway gear and used their clubs.
