Mackay Golf Club’s face-lift revealed
The golf club’s dated clubhouse has been revamped following a Council community grant of $250,000. In addition the club also received generous donations from long-time members, which enabled the renovation.
The club reopened Sunday, with Mackay Mayor Greg Williamson speaking at the long anticipated ceremony. He said it was a great outcome for the club and for Council’s Building Better Communities Fund.
“They have been able to put themselves back on the front foot… this is a club that has been around since the 1900s so it is worthwhile supporting”.
The renovations include the club rooms, a new bar front and the new addition of a disabled toilet. Dividing walls also have been installed so the once large club room can be split into four areas.
