WHAT do professional golfers Kurt Barnes, Jordana Keaton and George Serhan have in common?
They all spent their formative years at the Muswellbrook course.

Their stories, and many others, appear in a new publication entitled Members past and present who have been part of Muswellbrook Golf Club, which was launched last Saturday.
The likes of Barnes, Keaton and Serhan are profiled, along with Laurence “Lou” Edwards, John Serhan, Roger Mullins, Marion Flanagan, Helen Keaton, Les Brown, Brian Edwards, Peter Constable, Herbie Irwin, Tony Freeman, Les Durham, Stewart Edwards, Cathie Hedges, Neil Fayth, Greg Rankin, Eli Serhan, Terry Hamm, Lorna Aird, Gary Mears, Michael Sheedy, Alf and Allan Holdsworth, Peter Budden, Brady Benkovic, Stephen Nicol, Andrew Partridge, David McTaggart, John Hayes and Paul Milliss.
And, it is sure to provoke a lot of comment.
“The Muswellbrook Golf Club was established 106 years ago, so there have been plenty of characters in that time,” said Glenda Murray, who compiled the book.
“Many of them started their careers here.
“We’ve told the history of the club from an individual’s point of view.
“Members … of Muswellbrook Golf Club will create much discussion, especially in regards to the people who aren’t mentioned.
“But, we’ve left space at the back of the book – in other words, it’s to be continued.
“Who will be in the next edition?”
Mrs Murray admitted Members … of Muswellbrook Golf Club was a labour of love for her.
“Although it took about 12 months, I found it really satisfying,” she told the Chronicle.
“I enjoyed researching it and putting it together, with the help of the Muswellbrook Shire Local & Family History Society.
“Already it looks like we’ll be printing a second run.”
