NZ JOB: General Manager – Manawatu Golf Club
Manawatu Golf Club
Palmerston North, New Zealand
General Manager
- Shape the future of an iconic New Zealand sports club.
- Fast growing sport, excellent facilities, passionate members, a compelling Vision.
- Lifestyle opportunity.
The Club
The Manawatu Golf Club, situated in Palmerston North and established in 1895, can claim to be New Zealand’s oldest golf club. Today, it has over 1100 members, and is consistently rated one of the top 20 clubs in the country, with a progressive mindset and an exciting Vision for the future.
The Role
We are looking for a General Manager to shape the future of the Club and bring our Vision into reality. Reporting to the Committee through the President, and leading a talented team of over 30 people, the GM is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Club including the Clubhouse facilities, café and function centre, course and machinery, Pro Shop, membership, and administration. Our General Manager will be a proven leader with an outgoing personality, a passion for customer service and strong commercial and organisational skills. You will have led a team of similar size, successfully turned strategy into results and have excellent communication skills. Experience in club management, hospitality or retail would be an advantage as would having worked for a board or committee and being a golfer.
The Lifestyle
Palmerston North offers a unique lifestyle – centrally located in the lower North Island and home of Massey University, it is a hub of agriculture, industry, retail, building, construction, and education. Easy access to Wellington, coastal beaches and the tramping, skiing and mountain biking of the central plateau and Lake Taupo, make Palmerston North with its vibrant, diverse community a great family and lifestyle choice.
This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of an iconic golf club while enjoying a special lifestyle.
