Queensland, Australia: Troon has welcomed another venue to its growing Australian portfolio. Pacific Harbour Golf Club joins the fold this month, bringing the total up to six courses in the country.

Pacific Harbour Golf Club is a familiar face for Troon, as the venue re-engages with the Asian Golf Industry Federation Executive Member to develop the facility for the use of its members, their guests and the local golfing community.

One of the Sunshine Coast’s premier courses, Pacific Harbour Golf Club is located on the beautiful Bribie Island, just 45 minutes from Brisbane Airport. After a captivating drive across Bribie Island bridge with views of Pumicestone Passage, players arrive at the course designed by renowned golf course architect Ross Watson.

The ‘island links’ style 18-hole par-72 course is the centrepiece of the Pacific Harbour master-planned golf community, set against a backdrop of the Glasshouse Mountains, the National Park and untouched State Forest.

The course is complemented by its extensive clubhouse and the spacious, family-friendly Deck Café and Restaurant, available seven days a week for lunch and Friday evenings for dinner. The Deck features an air-conditioned seating area as well as alfresco decked spaces for modern casual dining, all overlooking the golf course’s vivid water features and lush native gardens.

Engaged to improve all elements of the business, both on the course and inside the clubhouse, Troon’s bespoke remit will be driven forward by two familiar associates, Will Keiler and Marcus Hartup. The General Manager and Director of Golf respectively have both been strong Troon advocates for a number of years, enjoying positions across the globe at some of the company’s headline facilities and are now applying those very same standards at Pacific Harbour.

Keiler said: “We’re excited about the next stage for Pacific Harbour Golf Club with the assistance of Troon. The company brings a huge wealth of knowledge and best practice learnt across the globe, all of which mean we can stay at the forefront of enhancing the golf experience for our members and guests.”

Those thoughts were echoed by Warren Russell, Project Manager for the club’s owner, QM Properties. He said: “We’ve seen Troon successfully working in a number of locations for some time now and felt it was right to enlist their expertise again. We’re focused on enhancing our total experience to ensure we stay in the must-play category for all golfers.”

Originally one of its first international properties in Australia, Troon enjoyed on-going success with Pacific Harbour during its formative years and it joins a growing list of Australian courses reaping the benefits that Troon brings.

Just last month, The Grange Golf Club joined Troon and its venues in New South Wales – Kooindah Waters Residential Golf & Spa Resort and Mollymook Golf Club – as well as Brookwater Golf & Country Club and Peregian Springs Golf Club in Queensland.

Bruce Glasco, Chief Operating Officer, Managing Director, Troon International Division, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Pacific Harbour back to the Troon family. During the time away, we have continued to refine and develop our approach and believe that the next phase in our relationship will be just as successful as the first.

“It’s great to have Will and Marcus at the helm. They are two great guys who live and breathe golf course management. With their effective oversight of the operations across the facility, Pacific Harbour Golf Club has a great opportunity to maintain its position as the number one must play course in Queensland.”
