PGA Life Members can receive immortal status
PGA Professionals who have made significant contribution to the game of golf can now be elevated to immortal status.
The recipient of the inaugural accolade will be honoured at the Greg Norman Medal Dinner at the 2016 Australian PGA Championships held on Tuesday 29 November at RACV Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast.
According to the PGA of Australia, Life Members who “stand out for their playing prowess, dedication to the game and vision for the future”, could receive the award, which will be added to the annual line up of PGA honours presented at the Medal Dinner.
“It is fitting, given the incredible dedication, service and ambassadorship that so many of our Life Members have made across their decades of involvement within the industry, that we honour them with an award befitting of their contribution,” said Brian Thorburn, Chief Executive Officer of the PGA of Australia.
“Their passion for the game and commitment to its growth are what inspires golfer to get out and play.”
“They are legends within the industry and their legacy is an inspiration to us all.”
PGA Chairman Peter O’Malley and recent Chairmen of the Vocational Members Council and Tournament Players Council, are responsible for selecting the recipient of the inaugural award
