Planning head won’t cop Peregian golf course land rezoning
PEREGIAN Springs Golf Club members hope to know by late Friday whether a bid to rezone part of the 18-hole course for residential development is likely to be successful.
Whenever the matter is considered, residents and club members fighting the proposal have a powerful ally.
Expectations remain high development applications for two separate parcels of the course will be considered at Sunshine Coast Council’s August 18 general meeting, the agenda for which will be published by close of business this week.
A council spokesman said details of the agenda can’t be released before it is published.
He confirmed that if the applications are on the agenda they will be accompanied by a report and recommendations from the council’s planning officers.
Planning portfolio head Christian Dickson has made clear he is personally opposed to the proposal which was originally justified as a means to channel $900,000 into the financially-troubled golf club.
