Remuera GC first in NZ to attain eco label
One of New Zealand’s premier golf courses Remuera Golf Club, located in Auckland, is the first NZ club to attained GEO status.
The certification is an internationally recognised eco-label of great golf environments worldwide, designating that a golf facility has met a credible standard in various areas of sustainability.
The 18-hole championship course had to undergo several improvements to receive the accreditation.
The alterations include re-naturalising parts of the course, establishing a number of hives around the course to help increase pollination of vegetation, replacing exotics trees with natives and reducing water consumption by replacing inefficient travelling irrigators.
Remuera Golf Club is one of 170 courses in 74 countries that is GEO certified.
