SEEKING: Chief Executive – Royal Wellington Golf Club
- Outstanding Premier Golf Club Leadership Opportunity
- Pivotal relationship and engagement role
- Venue for forthcoming top international golf tournament
The Royal Wellington Golf Club is a long established premier members’ golf club located 25 minutes from the capital city centre. It offers outstanding facilities for all levels of golfing and club membership enjoyment including a recently redeveloped 27 hole golf course, new coaching and practice facilities, a substantial Clubhouse, tennis courts and swimming pool. The Club has a significant history of participation in golf at all levels in New Zealand and around the world via other leading reciprocal clubs. As a result of the recent review of governance and management structures, Royal Wellington now wishes to appoint an experienced high calibre golf management person as Chief Executive.
The Chief Executive role is pivotal to the future leadership and management of the facilities and Club membership. As Chief Executive, you will lead, inspire and implement the strategic vision for Royal Wellington, its members and all stakeholders.
Reporting to the Captain and the Club Committee, you will be responsible for managing all Club finances, resources, facilities and staff. You will be focused on developing and maintaining the highest standards of care for the delivery of the game of golf for the Club, its members and its rapidly increasing number of New Zealand and international visitors.
You will have relevant experience working with a Board or Committee at executive level in an environment where standards of excellence, systems and relationship management are key hallmarks of success. Exceptional golf management experience is preferred in candidates who can demonstrate their insight of membership programs to support the Club’s future development. You will have a skill set relevant to maximizing the wonderful opportunities which Royal Wellington’s recently redeveloped golf course and facilities provide including hospitality, tournaments, coaching, retail, finance and general Club administration. You will be aware of high standards of leading golf clubs around the world and the hospitality, sportsmanship and enjoyment which they provide.
The Club is host venue for the 2017 Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship in October 2017, on which it is working closely with the Championship’s organisers, Augusta National and the R&A. The successful candidate will have a key role in working with Augusta National to ensure the delivery of the Club’s host venue commitments and the delivery of collateral benefits to other stakeholders.
