SEEKING: General Manager – Bonnie Doon Golf Club
- One of Australia’s oldest private golf clubs
- Exciting Stage of course redevelopment
- Ideal opportunity to drive the future of the Club
Bonnie Doon Golf Club, located in Pagewood in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, has a proud and competitive golfing history (currently holders of the Division 1 Major Pennant) and strong membership. The quality and presentation of the Bonnie Doon course is the key driver in measuring the success of the Club.
In 2011 the Club embarked upon an ambitious plan to implement the Ogilvy, Clayton, Cocking Mead (OCCM) Master Plan. Currently the Club has completed Stages 1 and 2 – 11 holes, the driving range and short game facility and Stage 3 – 5 holes, is under construction. These holes are due to open in autumn 2017. Stage 4 – the final 3 holes, is planned to be undertaken in 2018. Even though the Master Plan is not yet fully implemented, the work done so far has seen the course’s ranking move well inside the top ten courses in Sydney. The work has been funded mostly internally with only minor short term borrowings and no levies on members. This is an exciting time to be at Bonnie Doon.
With a forward thinking Board, strongly supported by the membership, this role becomes available at a very important stage in the Club’s development, following the impending retirement of the current General Manager. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the successful candidate will have overall operational management responsibility and will work with the Board in developing and implementing strategic and operational plans.
We welcome interest from proven golf club Chief Executive/General Management professionals. It is anticipated that you will have a proven track record in similar roles at other membership based golf clubs. You should be able to demonstrate your success in strategic and operational leadership and financial management and a good understanding of golf course agronomics . You will also have the presence and skills to ensure that the Club continues to deliver and enhance member experience. With Bonnie Doon being Very much a golfers’ club, a background knowledge, capability and passion for golf is a given. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline would also be expected.
For the right person, this is an opportunity to lead this highly regarded golf club through the future stages of its development.
Please send your resume to the President of Bonnie Doon Golf Club to recruitment@bdgc.com.au.
Applications close on Friday 2 September 2016.
