SEEKING: Horticulturist – Royal Sydney Golf Club

The Royal Sydney Golf Club is one of Australia’s most prestigious golf clubs. It provides a supportive workplace that values hard work, talent, enthusiasm and respect for traditions. Our staff are professional, engaged and recognised for their skill and talent. We are currently looking for a full time Horticulturist to join our team.

What will I be doing?

Reporting to Course Superintendent, Assistant Course Superintendents and Head Horticulturist you will be involved in the upkeep and development of the Landscape areas across the Clubhouse, golf courses and Northern Areas Sporting facilities.

Royal Sydney is surrounded by extensive native and exotic ornamental gardens as well as over 2300 trees. With more than 20 distinct garden areas surrounding the clubhouse and ongoing re-vegetation of native plantings across the property, this role offers a fantastic opportunity for a motivated horticulturist to implement and develop their skills in amenity horticulture management.

The successful applicant must have experience in the care, culture, propagation and maintenance of native and exotic trees, shrubs, ground covers and ornamental grasses. We are looking for people with strong communication skills who are open-minded, willing to learn and will successfully adapt to the challenges of the golf course environment.

What does the Club need from me?

  • Certificate III in Horticulture – Parks and Gardens (or similar is required)
  • Current spray qualification certificate ChemCert AQF3 (preferable)
  • Chainsaw certificate (preferable)
  • Arboricultural qualifications or experience (preferable)
  • Strong attention to detail, an excellent work ethic and the ability to work unsupervised or as part of a team is essential.

The Royal Sydney Golf Club is a private members club which was founded in 1893. It is recognised nationally and internationally for its world class facilities which include two golf courses, 17 tennis courts, bowling greens, croquet lawns, a squash court, a gym, 2 pools, several cafes, a fine dining restaurant, accommodation rooms and multiple function rooms.
